Lady Macbeth has to be one of the happiest women in America today:
Obama concedes remarks were ill chosen
Democrat Barack Obama on Saturday conceded that comments he made about bitter working class voters who "cling to guns or religion" were ill chosen, as he tried to stem a burst of complaints that he is condescending.

"I didn't say it as well as I should have," he said.
There's an understatement. He did, however, say it quite plainly:
You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
I think several swing states just flipped "red."
Meanwhile, back at Castle Macbeth, Her Ladyship is wasting no time in twisting the knife:
As Obama tried to quell the furor, presidential rival Hillary Rodham Clinton hit him with one of her lengthiest and most pointed criticisms to date.
"Senator Obama's remarks were elitist and out of touch," she said, campaigning about an hour away in Indianapolis. "They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans."
I was beginning to think I was going to miss out on a knock-down, drag-out brawl at the the Democratic convention. Now that the Prophet Barack has guaranteed another couple of big Clinton wins, I'm sure this race will be fought all the way to the floor in Denver.
Time to stock up on the popcorn.
Addendum: What was with the weird put-down of anti-trade positions? Obama's been positioning himself practically as the second coming of Smoot-Hawley, and now he's dismissing those who agree with him as just frustrated, knuckle-dragging rubes?
LINKS: Ed Morrissey dissects the truly objectionable portions of Obama's remarks, while the Democrats desperately try to spin away from it. After Ed's done, Victor Davis Hanson carves up what's left. (Thanks to SteveTN in the comments for the link!) At Blue Crab Boulevard, Gaius doesn't think this is going to go away any time soon.
