The E-Team
Rudy Giuliani's campaign announced their economic advisory team yesterday, and it's an impressive group of free-marketers and tax reformers. You can read about them at the Power Line Forum. (That's a very handy site, by the way. The Power Line guys have offered each of the Republican candidates their own forum, where they and their staff can interact with the public. Several have taken them up on it. I recommend it as a regular stop.)
One name that gave me pause was Bill Simon, businessman and Republican candidate for governor here in California in 2002. He ran a pathetic campaign and was trounced by the ruthless (and thankfully gone from politics) Gray Davis. I remember not thinking much of Simon's intelligence at the time, but perhaps that was an artifact of being a poor campaigner. He had served with Rudy as an assistant US Attorney in New York, and one doesn't get to such a position --nor last long with Giuliani-- by being an idiot. So, I assume Rudy saw something I didn't
The rest of the team, however, looks top-notch.

Fair is Fair Dept.: Captain's Quarters notes that Giuliani was having a very bad day yesterday.
