House upholds Bush veto

News just came in that the House has failed to override President Bush's veto of the pork-laden emergency funding bill that mandated a US withdrawal and effective surrender in Iraq. Now the House and Senate have to go to work to craft a new bill that allows the government to fund our Army in the field without requiring us to abandon our allies and create a far worse disaster in the area.

Shades of 1973-75. I've resisted the notion that "Iraq is another Vietnam," but the Democrats' desperate need to defeat their own nation reminds me of those miserable days. They really are the heirs to the Copperheads.

When and if they do craft a new spending bill, will Nancy Pelosi bother to read it?
